The first track from a larger project - a personal one, reflecting on the death of a friend and the aftermath of the tragedy for his close friends and family.

“on the 30th of July, 2022, i was in brisbane for my friend tim’s celebration of life, following his sudden passing a couple of weeks earlier. it had reached the early hours of the morning, and almost everyone had left or gone to bed. fiz, rose, brooke and i sat around the fire in the garden; tired, cold and boozy. i set up my zoom recorder on the ground between us and recorded about 45 minutes of audio - fiz played the guitar and sang, sharing some new songs with me, and i took a turn to noodle through some chords while the others talked around me. there was no agenda to the conversation - rose and brooke didn’t even know i was recording at the time. i took this recording home with me and this piece of audio is what you can hear throughout ‘LOSS MEDITATION’. edited, cut down, processed with side chained gates and other dynamic tools. the result is something of a collaged version of that full conversation, highlighting notes and words that poked their way through and made sense in the context of the synths and sounds around them.”
